Introduction

What defines an electric grid as a smart grid is that it enables two way communication between the producer and consumer. The smart part of the grid actually refers to the increased flexibility a smart grid has compared to conventional electric grids. Smart Grids has higher efficiency, is more flexible and more compatible to renewable energy sources than conventional electrical grids.
