On July 5, South Korean electric equipment and automation systems company LS Industrial Systems (LSIS) said it is speeding up the drive to boost its global presence in the microgrid business. LSIS Chairman Koo Ja-kyun has pledged to foster the microgrid business as one of the company's future growth engines. Last October, LSIS was chosen to establish a microgrid system on Singapore's Semakau Island, alongside global firms GE-Alstom and Schneider. In April last year, LSIS won the largest solar power facility deal, worth 11.3 billion yen ($99.95 million) in Hokkaido, Japan.
